30 God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. – Psalms 18:30
“way is perfect”
The term “best life” gets a bad wrap. We see this promised by exuberant pastors and trendy social media gurus, but there is some truth for the follower of Christ. Though no one can follow Him without error, the better we follow, the better the result. We have to believe that when we do things in align with His characters and values, our lives will prove to be better. His way is “perfect” but not necessarily easy. He plays the long game. Over time, this will prove to be true. Hang on.
“promises prove true”
Long game. God’s clock seems to move slower than ours. Over time, the truth of His promises are revealed and He is justified. When the odds are against Him, and us, and He is yet to be proven, this is when we wait in faith. As His children, we hold on to these promises. We know them to be true. Looking throughout our history of faith, we have seen Him proven faithful time and time again. Yet, in the moment, we can be blinded to this. Don’t let the latest crisis erase His history of movement within your life. His love is true and His affection is genuine. Hang on.
“a shield for all who look to him”
He is a protector. Often it is hard to remember this. We ache with the weight of life. We lose people and outcomes regularly in this life. Yet, we can also see His eternal protection. We all have those times where He has fought for us or saved us from mistakes or sins. He holds us together. As His children, we are to be protectors too. A Christ follower is a champion of the oppressed, the hurting, the marginalized. When we protect, we act like our Father and prove our heredity.
