An Offensive “Don’t Worry”

“Don’t worry” . . . can we be honest and jointly express our frustration with this statement? The last thing you typically want to hear when worrying is to stop worrying. If it were this easy, meaning if we could on my own, wouldn’t we always choose the non-worry option? Yet, here Jesus connects our worry to our Creator. He is making a bold statement that when we worry, we are attempting to dethrone God and essentially grabbing for control that is His alone.

Movements of God always start with a surrendered “Yes”

The difference between fan and a follower of Christ is summed up in this phrase. As we take steps away from our worry and towards our redeemer, we unleash the “Maybe” of God and His power.

. . . your heavenly Father feeds them” Jesus is reminding us worriers who our Father is. It is within the surrendered connection to our Father as a son or daughter that we begin to understand the depth of His great love. He will challenge you, He will discipline you, but He will never abandon you. He alone is above worry and today, He is calling for you to approach Him with open hands. You can only accept God’s blessings when you grasp this Holy surrender.

Lord, help me to surrender my worry to you. Help me to see you as the good Father you are and may I experience the peace that comes from being your child. I surrender my will to you. Shape my day as you wish.
