Worry is a Highway, Not a Destination

Often what we see as a destination, God sees as a highway. As finite creatures, we see things with limits, restraints, and restrictions. However, as a God who stands outside of the possibilities of man, our daily circumstances fail to keep Him boxed in.

Take worry for instance

Worry is an attempt for the helpless to gain control. We often struggle to see things past this great blockade known as worry, let alone see how it could benefit us, so we try to control the unknown. Meanwhile, our days fill with anxiety and are ultimately robbed of joy.

This isn’t what God intended

Yet, there is a lot to worry about.

Have you watched the news?

I would venture to say that worry is not inherently bad. After all, it tells us what we value and gives us an alarm that something is not as it should be. Jesus warns us, however, not to camp there, but see it as the first step to a richer faith. Worry is a beginning not an end. We can never expect our Lord to just pass over our fears because He continually warns against them. As He reiterates our identity within Him, He slowly puts to death that which grips us.

Next time you (or I) begin to worry, think about what God could do at the end of the road.
