11 . . . Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
We are in a great fight. Every day, our souls wage war within us between the higher and lesser things of this world. We are people of new beginnings, drawn to a higher ground and an eternal battle. Each day starts with its own challenges and snares. The greatest asset of the evil one is to, not make us triumphantly evil, but extraordinarily mediocre. When we settle for less than the God given, God sustained, and God glorifying movement of grace, the enemy wins. Just as indifference is worse than hatred, so is spiritual practice without fervor.
Today is a fresh start to make things right within us and within a world desperate to come home. The Father, the creator, is beckoning His children back to Himself. The most unhindered path to this is humility. When we see our need and recognize our ineptness, we are found within His grasp.
Remember your good confession
When you fall out of love today, it is sometimes helpful to look back to the love of yesterday. At any cost, reignite the fire of your affections for your first love. Gentle and steadfast, our Savior will never leave or forsake you. He is as powerful now as He was within your improbable conversion – those weeks you felt Him so closely. Yes, there is a fight, but He has already purchased victory at Calvary.

The Lord of creation is raging inside your cage of a chest. Lean into His now complete work. Model your behavior – your very life – after Him who death has no sting.
Fight, fight, fight against the darkness knowing the dawn is coming.
