To Live Like No One Else

20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20

The point of faith is to continually turn down the volume of “I”. When Paul declares himself dead, he means it. The ever shifting identity who lives in fear of this world, now makes way for the secure identity of faith in the unchanging Father. It is of great paradox that in order to live in such faith, we must first die to preference. It is no longer our best life now, but something more nuanced and rich. This Christ centered life offers, not protection from chaos, but the redemption of such chaos. It does not simply insulate us from the harsh realities of life, but compels us forward into its dark grasp in order that we may face a renewed redemption.

Following Christ is not for the faint of heart.

Yet, through the years in America, many have tried to hijack such Gospel realities. They want Jesus without the cross – freedom from circumstances instead of freedom in circumstances. The call of Christ is never to be taken lightly. It is not what you think. It goes against what is often touted as rational.

And this is the absolute best for you.

Today, remember that God’s way is better. Follow His voice, regardless of its practicality.
