God Is In Your Morning Coffee

4 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered – Psalm 105:4-5

A life of faith can be a grind. Like any passion, it can soon sink into the routine of life with a muted passion. Psalms gives us an inside look at both sides of faith.

Seek the Lord and his strength . . . Another way of communicating this is to seek humility. No one can honestly seek after God without being humbled. We cannot be in His presence or think deeply of His character without our own achievements crumbling. To seek His strength means to come to Him from a position of weakness. If we strong or able to handle the daily demands of life, we simply would not need Him. Never forget on whom you depend.

Seek his presence continually . . . This means a daily diligence that seeks new ways to revive your soul. Where is He? As Christ-followers, we chase after His presence in the fog of life. Relationships, thoughts, and words all come under His command as we humble then offer ourselves to Him. It is in the small areas of life where we see Him most clearly. In the pre-dawn coffee, the quiet stroll outdoors, or the laughter of a friend. We are of mature faith when we can connect those moments to the divine.

Today, admit your weakness, then take His strength. Seek Him feverishly in the details of your day.
