I Am . . . The Good Shepherd Day 2

This week in “I Am” we will be reflecting on Jesus as our Good Shepherd from Psalms 23

He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake. (Psalm 23:3)

Life has a predictable talent of turning us around. With the pressures and frustrations each day brings, it is difficult to know which way is up. Many days can feel more like a game of survival than a thriving enjoyment. It is in these times where we find Jesus a necessity. As the shepherd who cares for us, He places things in their right place while uncovering the path we often lose track of.

He is our restorer . . . so what needs restored?

Jesus does this, not to hold it over our head as some bargaining chip used to bribe us into good behavior, but to bring further glory to His name. When others see the backwards Kingdom alive in us, they fall in love with our savior. There is nothing more attractive in this world than a follower of Christ walking humbly in step with His savior. Sadly this is not the norm in our world, but it is of great encouragement when we see it displayed. This is the faith that reminds us of our calling and His beautiful soul work. He genuinely cares for you.

Today, let Him lead.

Lord, lead me to a greater understanding of your character. Teach me to love as you love and see as you see. Restore my faith to that of a child as I search for you today. Lead me.
