Circle of Life

Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God (Ephesians 5:1-2)

It helps to have a mentor. Someone you look up to and quietly model your life after. God ordained us to find those within our community to imitate as well as those in whom we can mentor. It is the circle of life (cue Sir Elton). As Christ chasers, our mentor is always Jesus (he sort of sets the bar high for us). When we look for influencers who we give the opportunity to speak into our lives, we look for the DNA of Jesus in their life. We do this as children because there is an honest naivety that they possess. They have a wonder and a determination that often gets beat up into adulthood.

As imitators of God, we find that love is of the utmost importance. Christ gives us example of true selfless love by modeling in the Scriptures. The end of me is the beginning of a rich mentorship. Love is what makes us teachable. It is unassuming and eager to learn and willing to lay down its preference for a higher calling.
