God, What Are You Doing?

“God will make us broken bread and poured-out wine with which to feed and nourish others” – Oswald Chambers

Your pain has purpose. The struggle you face in each 24 hour span of time can be redeemed. More than this, it is observed by the many who surround you. In the nothing is wasted economy of God, your failings are engines of grace to a world foreign to such beauty. It is so easy to express disapproval and frustration, for this is worldly, yet it is Godly and extremely attractive to respond to the trials of life with patience and spiritual grit. Many suffer in silence and I am not sure this is what God wants. When we look at the life of Jesus, His suffering was very public and so was His reaction. We see a savior unafraid and unapologetic with His frustration but also used it as a way to give humanity an inside peek into Godly turmoil.

The ‘why’ question is often brought up. Why is this happening? This is normal and not necessarily wrong. There are definite avenues we need to chase down the why to better understand our daily ups and downs. However, we may benefit from asking the ‘what’ question as well. What can I learn? What can God do? When we ask these questions, we open up a purpose in our pain. There is always a grieving process and it may take many why questions before arriving here, but I believe when we live in the what we can start to hope again. We live more encouraged faith for all to see and taste when we live in the what of God.

Lord, every day brings new struggle and frustration. Give us the strength to see past our circumstances to your redemption. We believe that you can work miracles with the most dire of situations. Give us the mind of Christ as we live day to day.
