17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:17)
Your purpose is tied to your decisions and your decisions are tied to the Father. Therefore every decision matters, how ever small, because choosing is an act of worship. The most impactful thing a follower can do is to do what he does in the light of what Jesus has done. There are now no menial tasks – no small moments of life. Whether you are a banker or a baker, what you do matters to God.
Make no mistake, what you do is not truly about what you do. No decision made by the saint is wasted in the redemption economy of Christ. Nehemiah built a wall but it was never about just a wall. It was so much more. God used that wall to uncover his purpose and test the resolve of His people. More was built in the character of Israel than was around its borders.
Today, take pride in your work. Have the bold faith that your decisions have eternal weight. Worship God with your decisions.
Lord, thank you for not wasting our lives. Thank you that our choices have an eternal value. Please protect us from losing heart as we walk into this world.
