13 Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. 14 For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. (Romans 6:13-14)
What are you an “instrument” for? The human condition will always battle you to prioritize your self over all else. Truth is, we must chose to be an instrument of light and grace. If you are reading this, Jesus chose you. He chose you before you chose Him and He loved before you knew the true depth of that love. Because of this great love, you no longer have to live for yourself. We were saved by the truth of Christ from believing the lie of ego. Selfishness looks appealing, but we all know too well its trappings. We are now free.
Sin will have no dominion . . . Sin has no command on you any longer. Your commander is Christ. His way is grace and you are under the freeing umbrella of grace. The story of Easter is not merely transforming “bad” people into “good”, but turning “dead” people into “living”. In order to maximize this life, we must move our focus from being “good” to being “alive” under the kingship of Christ. This is a freedom apart from the fear of doing “bad” and thrives under the heartbeat of our eternal savior.
Today, you have a choice. You have been saved from a life of mediocrity and given a redeemed future. Choose passion, grace, hope, and resurrection. We will never be the same after an authentic collision with Christ.
Lord, thank you for the Easter story. Thank you for defeating sin and granting us a life renewed. Help us to live in the Gospel reality today. Quicken in us an iron spine to choose life over death.
