The Time I Spoke on Freedom

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery . . . 13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. (Galatians 5:1, 13)

I stepped off stage after the second weekend service with the usual dry throat that comes from speaking with a heightened tone. This is when I am most vulnerable. As a speaker, any speaker, you leave a part of you out for public judgment. It is at this time where the mind wanders bouncing between missed moments and vocal stutters. You are never satisfied. The point to this particular talk was the freedom we have in truth. It is this idea that the Lord of Light illuminates the dark recesses of our thought in order to renew our once reckless mind. I hope that came across.

His Truth sets us free because it restores order to our lives. It is upside down from what we are use to but is what years of sin have robbed from us. This freedom is always to be the vehicle to deeper relationship with our creator and not for the traps that so easily entangle us with their promises of joy. This is the mask of freedom without the exercise of such. It is like our God to demand we lay down our rights in order to gain this.

So why do we take sin seriously? Because it robs us of a life with Christ. It steals our passion and battles our only avenue to peace. Jesus offers Truth, and in this Truth He grants freedom. Today, thrive in this grace and want not the sins of this world.
