7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. (Matthew 7:7)
The truth is, you are as close to God as you wish to be. I speak in human terms of course, for He truly is ever present in the lives of all. However, our relational proximity to Him is a direct result of the movement of our faith. It is said that Jesus was the truest of gentlemen, fully secure in the opinions of others. He will never push His presence on people but simply be available when called upon. Make no mistake, this does not mean He is timid or has anything but great affection for you. On the contrary, our God is fully secure in His deity and passionate for your attention. His very essence puts His children’s needs before His own.
There is a great lie that our connection and distance from God wavers with the ups and downs of life. Perhaps it is not He who has moved, but us. May we have the courage to deny the distractions of this world in favor of something greater with our Lord. In every situation, we must learn how to ask, seek, and knock. Our fat was not finished at the resurrection. Our faith is living and active in the chaos of today with an unshakable confidence of His presence. The Father of lights is here. As we stand, present in life, work, and conflict, He commands the space we share. Ask of Him. Seek Him. Pursue Him.
Lord, thank you for your presence. May we seek you with an unsatisfied longing. Help us to be aware of your great being.
