5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
Raise your hand if you need wisdom? No really, keep it up so we can count. Odds are, everyone around you would raise their hand enthusiastically. Life goes by so incredibly fast and before we know it, there is another situation we fail to know how to handle like we wish. Our minds often scramble to find a grasp of the world spinning around us. Few of us would say that we know how to handle every circumstance we find ourselves in, yet when we need true wisdom, does our examination only bounce between the walls of our mind, or do our pleas reach out to our Lord?
There are few clear guarantees in Scripture like this one in James. We see God is generous, patient, and a wealth of true wisdom. We must have the spiritual wherewithal to ask. This of course takes a humility and an declaration that we do not know it all. The most important trait in the saint is humility – or a confident belief that the Lord knows better. In order for us to start thinking differently, we must cling to our savior in humility in every situation. Submit it to the Lord and ask for His perfect guidance. Oh, how different our lives would look if we could only grasp this principle!
Today, ask for wisdom. Test God and see that He is indeed faithful. Have confidence that He will work in mighty ways to give you Godly wisdom.
Lord, help us to rely on your promises and not our own thoughts and beliefs. Give us the humility to ask you for help.
