Your Life is a Yogurt

15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.  (Ephesians 5:15-17)

So I’ve been eating the same breakfast for three weeks. In an attempt to get my life in order, it is the least I can do to give the appearance of a healthy lifestyle. One of my friends is into plain greek yogurt and converted me to it’s capabilities. The funny thing about plain greek yogurt is it’s honesty. It truly is as advertised; plain. No taste, no fun. It just hangs out in the grocery store freezer section devoid of personality and danger. Yet, it has some great qualities, mainly protein. Everyday, in an effort to get all of my nutrition in one meal, mainly so I can enjoy chips later, I add a ton of more exciting options to my yogurt friend. Bananas, strawberries, peanut butter, granola, and chia seeds, which are a dental nightmare. With these additions, this bowl of plain morning yogurt transforms into a sexy prom date.

And this is where I make a Dalai Lama level metaphor applicable to your life using yogurt:

I feel like our lives are pretty plain on their own. We have unlimited power and substance but left on our own, we can be fairly boring. It’s almost as God urges us to fill our bowl with life giving, passionate, and exciting add ons without overcoming the hidden greatness of the base yogurt. What if the Lord’s will was for us to laugh, thrive, and make one hell of a yogurt parfait? We are all given the same base to work with. Maybe we have certain obstacles different from others, lack of parents, resources, or freedoms, but we still have something tragically beautiful contained in the limits of our chest. To live as “wise” we must be mindful of what we add. Our bowls are only so big.

Today, live as an ass kicking bowl of protein and power. Don’t underestimate the abilities within you. You are much more than plain.
