5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5)
We all run somewhere when we need wisdom. Our lives are not complete enough to not be in desperate need for insight and direction. Looking at the years I have crafted for myself, I strongly believe that the quality of our lives depends solely on who we seek advice from. The problem we face here though is that while we are called to find wisdom from God, we don’t necessarily see Him. Our troublesome friends are in the flesh, present, and willing to give “wisdom”. To seek wisdom from our creator is beautiful, but highly impractical. Too many times however, we gain wisdom from above only to ignore and dismiss. Deep down, we know the heart of God because we have the Spirit of God dwelling inside us.
The reason this verse works as a guaranteed “yes” is because it starts with humility. The Lord always blesses and instructs those whose natural inclination is a dismissal of ego. We rage war on our arrogance because that is the main barrier between us and a wise God. Wisdom thrives in humility. The more we adopt this mindset, the more we see wisdom poured out upon our lives in buckets. As we gain such divine wisdom, it is crucial that we move on it quickly. For wisdom that is stagnant is fleeting and hardens us from finding it again.
Today, seek wisdom. Ask the Lord who gives generously. He is ready to help guide and protect you in decisions. Know that it all works out for His glory and your benefit.
