Power of God

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16)

18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

While creation screams of a creator God, this is not deemed the power of God. Hurricanes, thunderstorms, volcanoes, none of these are described as “the power of God” in Scripture. Yet it is in the persistent healing of His created souls that we find such power. His power is let loose when a sinner repents. In the everyday, we recognize this movement to shape the form of our hours. To be a Christ follower simply means that we pull the Jesus into everything. Our thoughts, media choices, and relationships are forever tainted with His gospel declaration.

The Gospel of Christ is ridiculous

Is it not like our backwards God to value relation to His creation over the worth of His achievements? We are called to do the same. Gospel centered relationships – the giving of the best of “us” for the worst of “them” is to be our aim. It is no longer what we can achieve but how deep we can love. In this, we are His children. In this, the power of God is unleashed. The world is still humming from the Gospel tremor unbound two-thousand years ago and as captivated children, we are to continue the shaking of foundations and collapsing of the facades of self-reliance.

Today you are empowered by a creator who has selflessly endowed you with a grace that shatters and comforts. Be bold today as your Father is bold. Loving the unlovable and healing the broken. You are bound by the Spirit of God in power. Walk in this today.
