2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do. (Psalm 1:2-3 NLT)
There are many terms you can use to describe Christians in America, but delight isn’t necessarily at the top of the list. Why is this? Is it daily life struggles or is it an inactive and dry faith?
The depth of our delight is a direct result of the depth of our roots in the Word
This constant inclination toward our Father is the source for our joy. As a tree fails to thrive without a constant water source, we fail to have joy when we live the secular life.
So the question becomes, where are your roots?
If you are firmly planted in a changing and disappointing world, then it is no wonder that your faith is barren. The only way this faith thing works is a constant evaluation of where we are watered. Delight is something we fight for, something we have to forcefully pull away from the grasp of the unruly demands of a life on fire.
Today, check for your roots. Is your faith ever moving, ever shifting or are they properly hydrated with the delight that only comes from one source?
