A Worthy Day

27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ. (Philippians 1:27)

This is a tall order for us flawed people. We are the same humans who fail before leaving the house in the morning and are barely approachable before the morning coffee hits our senses. Yet Paul encourages us to work as being worthy of Christ is actually a viable lifestyle. To push the Gospel rock up the mountain daily in hopes of shades of our creator being shown to those around us who are alien. How do we even come close to living a lifestyle worthy of the greatest gift in human history?

In order to break a habit, you must create a habit more appealing.

Do we really want holiness? Do we pursue it out of a conviction that holds it to be the best possible life for us and those around us? Or do we half-heartedly pursue it because we feel the guilt of another looming Sunday? If Christ is not our main affection, then He is nothing at all. This life is too important to waste on Christian lip service. You are either in or out. If in, it is your obligation to stoke the fires of your faith daily, letting your affections rage with a million flames. By doing this, you will live the life that Paul describes here. A life of abandoned logic and reckless faith. Resting in grace, we can work in freedom not for salvation. Our life is worthy because the great I Am makes it so.

Today, explore the Gospel, the depths of which will never be exhausted. May the vibrations of grace echo through the corridors of our broken hearts. Rest in His worth and work in freedom. We love because He has loved.

Lord, I commit my day to you. May you find it worthy.
