A True Happy

45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45)

We must be constantly reminded of why we are here. While it can be enjoyable at times to live for ourselves, a life lived for others is unmatched. Jesus is encouraging us to get lost in the service of those around us and in doing so, we will find ourselves. Jesus, as a perfect being, saw this and lived it out perfectly. The model for a fulfilled life is always illustrated in the life of Christ in which we should desperately look to model.

As someone who is socially uncomfortable at times, I have always wanted to serve people but have failed sometimes in application. Recently I have prayed for God to reveal those who I could express grace to. Lord, let me have a conversation, a chance to encourage, or an opportunity to pray. It always comes to a surprise at how He answers this prayer. Many times, it happens within moments.

Today, remember that Jesus does not call you to others because He wants to ruin your life. He calls you to others because He wants you to find your life and the abundant joy that He is the keeper of. The backwards kingdom of our Lord is counter intuitive at this is exactly what we need. Our “normal” way of living is not getting it done. “Normal” is stressed, divorced, and crushed under the weight of catching up with those around us. It’s time to flip the script.

Lord, bring people into our lives we can serve, encourage, and breathe grace into today.
