I Be Not Strong

7 Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? . .12 even the darkness is not dark to you (Psalm 139:7, 12)

The morning alarm hits me like a jolt of ice water coursing through my constricted veins. Dreams of achievements and worry are now met with realities of uncertainty and frustration. The insecurities speak commandingly in the early morning. After a few hours rest, they remember why they exist – to cloud with the fog of doubt. It’s not a surprise. The same handful of thoughts which were taken “captive” after the day’s struggle, are now free to roam across the weary mind of a man broken. Before my feet hit the worn bland carpet, my mind has lived a thousand outcomes to the day. It is in these early musings that the Lord must be found.

In the dark morning we long for small rays of hope. Coffee, bacon, and grace are welcomed as we are faced with the endless waves of insecurity. These are the foundations of what our day is to become. As Christ followers, we must richly believe that He follows us into the darkened corners of our mind and action. Is God truly with us? In faith, like in many things, the power is not in the belief but in the application.

Today, you are not as strong as you think. Your ability to conquer the day is hinged on this one great truth – He is with you. With your doubt, with your struggle, with your brokenness. Lean into His presence and lean away from your strength.
