Nothing Good Happens After 12

55 I remember your name in the night, O Lord, and keep your law. (Psalm 119:55)

I’ve heard much wiser people than I say that nothing good happens after midnight. After 32 years on this planet, I have to agree. The night provides a covering, a sort of insulation from judgment. It is in darkness that our God is revealed. Spirit or flesh, we all choose one. There incredible wisdom and comfort in the way Jesus calls himself the light. He needs to blast his radiating glow into the dark corners of our excuses and hiding places. Sometimes this is painful. It is vital that we remember who and who’s we are when tempted. Sin is essentially an identity crisis.

We all have those dark corners of night we run to when we are stressed or scared. Disobedience comes naturally. Today, may Christ ruin its comfort. Let him painfully pluck its roots and realign your heart to his will. Run to his will – remember his name in the midst of sin. And remember this day, sin has lost. All that is left is the paperwork.
