Monday Morning Mantra

35 Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it (Psalm 119:35

No one is a leader alone. Fact is, the greatest leaders are also the greatest followers. I love this verse because the Psalmist states the desire to be led. Left to our own devices, we won’t walk toward his commandments. We simply don’t think like he does. In order to follow Christ effectively, he has to lead and sometimes drag us. The thing about God we don’t fully grasp is that he does ALL the work. We must then recognize this and with humility, admit our inclination to stray.

36 Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain

Lord, take this crooked heart and make it straight. Fix it to you, our only hope. On our own, we choose death and settle for less than you desire. Compel us to move, not perfectly, but in passionate pursuit of our life giver. We are desperate and distracted and need you to move. With humility we ask you to lead us in your path and incline our hearts to yours. We love you. Amen
