Too Smart For Your Own Good

Be careful that your education doesn’t surpass your obedience. I must admit, it has in me. Like any great love affair, life with Christ will eventually get dramatically practical. The image of your affection fails to burn behind your eyes as it once did. When spirituality becomes an intellectual exercise through church attendance, Bible study, and yes, even quirky blog posts, then it becomes more of an idea than a commission. Yet it is in obedience and the lack there of that Christ is best learned.

Why do our failings isolate us? In these we should confront and perhaps even boast, for our sin leads us to the sinless creator. Never mistakingly believe that your obedience is beyond sin. While your identity is in Christ, making you holy, you are still a sinner. Do you have someone in your life you can share your soul punching sins with? Perhaps the only thing greater than sin is the ability to bear it alone. Someone said once that to rid yourself of darkness, flood it with light. Today, may you find the light and in this may your darkness flee.
