2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? (Isaiah 55:2)
Great question huh? There is a terrible notion believed by many that God doesn’t want us satisfied. That we should toil and struggle until heaven. Yet Christ came to give us abundant life – not just in the future but in the present. That means NOW. Yes, there will be struggle, but if your life is not better with Jesus today, then it is worthless and I would encourage you to follow something else.
But to live for Christ means to live with focused intention. Don’t waste your labor on the meaningless. You were created significant and redeemed for divine purpose. What are your priorities? Does your money and labor reinforce this as true? Many times we say we prioritize the higher things such as family and God, yet where we spend our resources (time and money being the most central) betrays the truth. I fear a life wasted in the shadows of my distractions. I fear a life of settling compromise. Saint, when you reach your final days; when death closes in, may your peace outweigh your regret.
