Case of the “Mondays”

5 Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. 6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear (Psalm 118:5-6a)

Distress pulls us toward Christ. If faith is made of the distance between us and God, then may we embrace this present chaos. The idea that God is on our side, answers us, and sets us free are all over the Bible – especially in the Psalms. In fact, this morning I found myself skimming over these statements at first. It almost seems mundane. Yet may we never get over Jesus. The Lord is fighting for us in today, and has secured victory in tomorrow. And while victory does not look like we expect sometimes, don’t be fooled in believing the distance between him and us. If the Lord is anything, he is present.

This week will bring distress. The waves of vocation and family will attempt to surround you – don’t let it. Use that frustration – this holy tension – to draw you near to the victorious Christ. No Monday is too big for the weight of his grace. Be confident sons and daughters, He is on your side. Even in the mess of Monday.
