New

5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” (Rev. 21:5)

There is a beauty to a great thrift store. To many, these are filled with junk – with throwaway objects no longer deemed necessary. Yet at the right time, it is purchased for a new purpose. The discarded cat statue, christmas sweater, or cookbook is now a prized story of consumer redemption.

“I am making all things new”

A pastor I respect recently said that Jesus is after progress over perfection. This is the story of true redemption and should be a cornerstone of our faith. This theological concept of “sanctification” means that we are on a spiritual journey. We are justified by Christ at the cross through faith, but we are maintained and redeemed in the grit of the everyday through sanctification.

He is making you new today. Let him. Don’t fight the prompting of His Spirit but allow his renewal.
