Where is He?

3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. (Revelation 21:3)

Continuing in Revelation 21, we see that eventually Christ will walk among us. No matter how close we get to God on earth, there will still be a insurmountable distance between the sheep and the shepherd. Is this not the cause of great conflict in our world? There is nothing in our life that cannot be improved by his presence. The wall of sin and corruption will be abolished once and for all, and we get Jesus. All of Jesus. Forever.

But this doesn’t mean we are completely without his presence today.

Faith is difficult in a world blocked from God. Yet through work – the work of applying his grace to the everyday – we can achieve glimpses of what’s to come. Never ignore the subtle pangs of direction from his Spirit, for these have the fingerprints of God. His discipline leads us closer to himself and construct a life under the shade of his cross. Yesterday’s movement won’t deal with today’s hardships. Seek him anew today and draw close to his presence.
