The Candy is Cheaper

This week we live in a sort of post-Easter fog. Candy and baskets are marked down today while much of the Western Reserve staff is coming down from a great – but busy – holy week. As a bruised follower of Christ, I have a complicated relationship with days like Easter. They of course are huge reminders of our faith, but if we are not careful, we can easily let them pass and miss the application of the grace into the everyday. The fact is, Easter sunday’s legacy vibrates as much today as it did yesterday.

The only difference is the candy is cheaper.

The call of Christ is a marathon, not a sprint. The secret of our faith is found in the grimy and steadfast opportunity to bring Christ in to the grit of today. It is in finding a way to apply the grace of a more than 2,000 year old peasant, into the relevant walls of a hurting culture. Cut through the fog.

May the Easter message thrive in your life today. May your hunger for His redemption propel you into tomorrow and the next day. Fight with grit, saint. He is alive and well. The tomb is still empty, the cross is still sufficient, and his work is still enough. Lean into Jesus.
