(Read John 15 First)
5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Be careful how you define success. The direction and ascension of our days are prone to give us a false meaning. Jesus boldly declares the life lived apart from him, no matter what material or relational success one achieves, to be an absolute failure.
And this is a great thing.
Our identity and purpose needs a source. Jesus is that source. It is only being connected to the vine that we can achieve our potential and true purpose. This is to be the aim of our days, to connect with the creator and sustainer of our few breaths on earth.
8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples (v.8)
We glorify God when we walk in our identity with passion and meaning. This is how we are to define success.
Pray: Help us to connect with you today. Help us to live a life of passion and meaning that comes from a deep connection with you. Give us wisdom to measure success by your standard and not ours. The more we study your identity, the more we find our own. Give us the wisdom and time to make you the priority of our heart. Amen
