John 6: Where You Trust God Least

(Read John 6)

20But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid” John 6:20

Jesus gives peace in a way the world cannot. It is peace out of his identity. “It is I” that we find true peace, not man, myth, or media but creator God in which this peace rests. How difficult it is in this world to find such peace. But our Lord never lets us rest in fear but forces us to work it out in faith. It is a peace amongst chaos.

Where you fear the most is where you trust God the least

Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life (v.27)

Look past the immediacy of today to the ultimate call of Christ. True faith can somehow gaze past the complexities and doubts of the present to the upward call of Jesus. He is a God who slays our fear and challenges our faith. Yes, we struggle, but it is a struggle from victory not for victory. We are inherent winners because of our great Father.

Lord, to whom shall we go? (v.68)

May our lives echo this statement. When our days are a battle between fear and faith, may we have the humble courage to choose well. To whom else shall we go?

Pray: we often live in subtle fear. It might not overcome us, but it seeps into our heart, choking out our faith. Break us of this. Lord, you alone are trustworthy, equip us to put our faith in you. We know that when we truly believe in you, the momentum is unstoppable. May we not settle for fear but trust you in huge ways today. When given the choice, may your Spirit pull us toward greater and richer faith. Amen
